Plastic buckets with lids come in handy for all kinds of things. For example, I make my own laundry detergent in bulk and I needed a large airtight container for it. I was in a super Walmart one day and it occurred to me to ask at the bakery if they had any empty icing buckets they could let me have.
Sure enough I left with three 4-gallon buckets, all with handles and tight-fitting lids. One is holding my laundry detergent and the other two are great storage for pet food.
Almost any in-store bakery will give them to you for free. You just have to ask.
