5 Easy Ways to Save Water
Saving water is not only an eco-friendly thing to do; it's also helpful to our wallets. To start saving both water and money, here are a few easy things that The Daily Green has come up with for you to do.
- Install a Low-Flow Showerhead: this can cut your bathing-water consumption by 50%-70% but you'll still have ample water pressure. They are easy to install and cost about $8.
- Turn Off the Tap While You Brush: don't let your water dollars run down the drain. By turning off the tap when you're brushing your teeth in the morning and at night, you could save around 8 gallons of water a day per person.
- Water Your Yard in the Morning: morning air is cooler, so less water is lost to evaporation at this time of day.
- Use a Pro Car Wash: commercial car washes typically use about 45 gallons of water per car whereas home washers use about 80 to 140 gallons. Check with the car wash, they may even recycle there water.
- Fix That Leak: one leaky faucet could waste 3 gallons of water a day. Fix those leaks because every drop really does add up.
